CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court today started hearing in the four PIL writ petitions seeking direction for CBI inquiry into the alleged multicrore mining scam. The hearing would continue in the court of Chief Justice V Gopalagowda and Justice BN Mohapatra tomorrow.
The hearing commenced with counsels of the petitioners advancing their arguments. They stated that as the matter involved large-scale corruption spread throughout the country and had involvement of influential people, the matter could be properly probed only by the Central investigation agency. The bench, however, asked the counsels to state the legal grounds on which the matter should be handed over to CBI and not investigated by the State Vigilance.
