The women’s wing of Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to highlight the failures of the BJD Government in protecting rights of women in the State. At the executive committee meeting of the Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee, chaired by president Bijaylaxmi Sahoo, it was proposed that the party will go to people and tell them how the Government has failed to protect the women’s rights. There has been a rise in atrocities against women during the regime of Naveen Patnaik and it must be highlighted, the meeting felt.
PCC president Niranjan Patnaik was the chief guest and called upon the women’s wing to strengthen the organisational base of the party and fight the Naveen Government tooth and nail.
General secretary Sabitri Sahu said the party had to gear up for the election to urban bodies due next year.The meeting also chalked out an action plan to observe the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi. A series of events will be organised to mark the occasion.
