A man allegedly ended his life after poisoning his two minor sons at Sihini village under Belpada block of the sub-division on Monday.
While Suresh Patel (30) succumbed at Patnagarh sub-division hospital, the children - Satyam (3) and Subham (5) - are critical and have been shifted to VSS Medical, Burla.
As per reports, Suresh, a native of Dholmandal village in Turekela block of Titilagarh sub-division, had married Padmini of Sihini village. To provide better education to his children, Suresh has shifted to Meherpada in Belpada and was residing in a rented accommodation.
Padmini’s father Girdhari Putel revealed that the couple had marital discord and Padmini had moved to her parents’ house recently. Sources said Suresh had gone to Sihini along with the children on Monday and after breakfast at his in-laws house, he and his sons went to cotton fields of his in-laws. When they did not return, Girdhari went looking for the three only to find them lying unconscious in the field.
Although he rushed them to the Patnagarh sub-division hospital, Suresh died while the children were referred to VSS Medical. It was revealed that all the three had consumed pesticide.
