Burla Police arrested a constable posted at Reserve Police for blackmailing a person. The accused, identified as Dilip Kumar Dhala, was forwarded to court on Sunday. The police are on the lookout for his accomplice, who is absconding.

The duo had clicked photographs of one Surajit Parida, who had gone to the right dyke of the Hirakud dam with a female colleague on August 4 and had asked them to hand over cash and other valuables.

But the matter did not end there. Dilip demanded `15,000 more from them and asked them to pay the amount by Saturday evening. He then tried to blackmail Parida and threatened to manipulate the snaps and host it.

Harassed, Surajit reported the matter to Burla police, who laid a trap and nabbed Dilip.
