One injured in group clash

Tension prevailed at Agastinuagaon under Chhatrapur police limits following clash between two groups.

The by-election for ward members saw the villagers divided into two groups. While a hitch on Saturday morning was resolved on the intervention of elders of the village, one Rabi Narayana Behera was allegedly attacked by a group of youths led by Chandramani Gouda and Bapuni Behera in the evening. They hit him with iron rod while he was returning home. The injured Rabi has been admitted to Chhatrapur hospital. Armed police have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.

Management-Workers Tussle Work in the Balaji spinning mill at Aska has come to a grinding halt following a tussle between the management and employees.

The workers have been staging agitations over work benefits for the last few days. Although a meeting was held between the workers and the management on Saturday to sort out the issue, it had to be stopped as some union leaders were not allowed to attend the meeting, reportedly by the management. Protesting against this move, some workers allegedly assaulted an official of the mill. When the official concerned lodged a complaint with the police, the workers stopped work in the mill on Saturday evening. A counter case has also been filed by the workers. They have urged the Ganjam Collector to intervene.
