Woman, grandson die in accident

A 75-year-old woman and her grandson died in a road accident on Jatni-Janla road on Monday. The accident took place when their bike was hit by a vegetable-laden autorickshaw. The woman, Bidulata Mohanty, was declared dead at Capital Hospital, whereas Prabhu Prasad Routray, the grandson, succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. The woman-grandson duo was travelling on a bike. After having visited one of her daughters, Bidulata was on the pillion with Prabhu. They were on their way to Bhubaneswar to meet another relative. Near Talapeta, the autorickshaw hit their bike head on. Both sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Capital Hospital. Bidulata was a native of Puri’s Markandeswar Sahi while her grandson lived in Paikrapur near Chandaka. A case has been lodged with Jatni Police.
