1 arrested, 40 bombs seized

Chhatrapur Police on Tuesday arrested one Kailash Patra of Bramhaniapalli and seized around 40 country bombs from his possession.

There was tension on Monday evening after Kailash Patra and Santosh Patra of Bramhaniapalli exploded two bombs in Sundarapalli. The duo had earlier gone to Sundarapalli to collect dues from one Sima Patra but were allegedly assaulted by the latter and his supporters. Though none was injured, the matter was reported to police.

However, the village elders had urged the police not to initiate any action and convened a meeting on Tuesday where a compromise was reached. However, Kailash again abused Sima and allegedly threatened to blow up Sundarapalli village.

Apprehending trouble, a villager informed the police who reached Bramhaniapalli and questioned Kailash. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to have threatened to avenge the humiliation. He also led the police to the community hall of the village where he had hid the country bombs.

Kailash has been forwarded to court and the village committee is being questioned about the explosives. Police said Kailash was allegedly involved in criminal activities in the area.
