A number of projects for export promotion

The State Government has sanctioned several new projects for export promotion in the State.

According to official sources, the new projects, sanctioned by the State Level Export Promotion Committee (SLEPC), include a filigree centre in Cuttack, World Trade Centre in Bhubaneswar, Angul-Duburi-Sukinda Rail Link, IT corporate tower in Chandaka industrial area and creation of IT incubation centre in Infocity Chandaka. The recent projects, being considered by the Committee under Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) scheme, include improvement of approach road to Balaramgadi Fishing Centre, Chandipur, with proposed investment of Rs 1.8 crore, aluminium park at Angul with Rs 10 cr  and incubation centre at Info Valley at Goudakashipur on the outskirts of the City with Rs  20 cr. So far a total of Rs 88.21 cr has been utilised against Rs 91.08 cr received under the scheme. The allotment for 2012-13 is Rs 18 cr.

On the export front, Odisha has recorded a growth rate of 36.54 pc. Total export figures of the State in 2010-11 have crossed Rs 17,000 cr against the total export of Rs 12,000 cr in 2009-10.

The Industries Department has been asked to take up aggressive marketing activities  among business organisations and industrial houses for optimum utilisation of infrastructure already created. Available data shows that, at present, ongoing projects under the scheme include construction of ITES/BPO towers in Bhubaneswar, Auto Park at Mania village in Cuttack, equity participation of Government in Haridaspur-Paradip broad gauge rail link, 132-KV line and sub-station with 12.5 MVA capacity for Daitari, MSME Software Park by OCAC, setting up of an export-oriented design cell and apparel park at Kurki on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, common processing centre at Dhamra harbour, vertical expansion of CIPET building here and corridor road at Kalinganagar Industrial Complex.
