Red rebels kill ward member’s husband

The Maoists have killed a tribal, Sukra Karami, at Bandhguda village, about 15 km from Podia, suspecting him to be a police informer. The victim was the husband of the local ward member.

The body of the 35-year-old was found on Tuesday morning with his throat slit, on the outskirts of the village, about 50 metres from his house. A letter, accusing him to be a police informer, was found near the body.

Reports said a group of seven or eight armed cadres forcibly took Sukra from his house while he was asleep late on Monday.

SP Akhileswar Singh confirmed the incident but rejected the Maoists’ allegation that Sukra was a police informer.  The family members are yet to approach the police, Singh said.
