Six detained for priest’s murder

Six persons have been detained in connection with the murder of Jagannath temple priest Guna Sinhari alias Talachhu Bhagaban Mahapatra, who was shot dead on Wednesday.

SP Anup Kumar Sahu said police had got some leads and the killers would be nabbed soon.

After the murder, four police teams conducted raids at several places to nab the accused.

During the raids, police detained two shopkeepers whose shops were located near the murder site and four more persons with criminal antecedents.

Mahapatra was cremated in Swargadwara after autopsy was conducted late on Wednesday.

Bike-borne miscreants pumped bullets from point-blank range on Mahapatra. He took bullets in the head and chest and died on the spot. Police believe it was a fallout of property dispute and some sharpshooters were engaged to kill the priest.
