BHUBANESWAR: While Statewide raids by the Excise Department continued, those involved in the manufacture and distribution of spurious liquor have been nabbed.

 According to a release by the Chief Minister’s office, 55 persons were arrested during the raids on Monday. Raids by the drug control officials and police also continued.

 Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the situation at a meeting here on Tuesday.  The three departments have been asked to continue the raids to prevent recurrence of tragedies like the one in Khurda district.

 Only patients, who had consumed digestives punched with alcohol, are now being treated at the SCB Medical and Hitech Medical.   Director-General of Police Manmohan Praharaj, Principal Secretary in the Home Department UN Behera, Principal Secretary, Excise, Rajkumar Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Aditya Prasad Padhi, Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Anu Garg, Police Commissioner BK Sharma, Excise Commissioner Saswat Mishra and senior officials were

present.
