Odisha Sahitya Akademi on Tuesday announced the names of winners in different categories for 2009 and 2010. The announcement was made at a meeting of the Akademi’s executive council.
The awards will be conferred on 21 writers in nine categories. Each award carries a citation and ` 25,000 in cash.
The secretary of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, Bijay Kumar Nayak, said 12 authors for 2009 and nine for 2010 will be awarded.
For 2009, the Akademi announced Krupasagar Sahoo as the winner under novel category, Debapriya Das for poetry and Prabasini Mahakuda Tiwari for
poetry.
The other awardees are Sanghamitra Mishra, Semanta Mohanty and Bijay Mohanty, all three for play, Umesh Patri in essay and criticism category, Premananda Mohapatra and Bijayketan Patnaik for autobiography and travel literature, Sakuntala Baliarsingh for translation, Manaswini Das for children’s literature and Sachi Mohanty in the category of ‘Geeti Kabita’.
The awardees for 2010 include Mamatamai Chaudhary (novel), Arabinda Ray (short story), Soubhagyabanta Mohanty (poetry), Krutibasa Nayak (drama and one act play), Dhaneswar Sahoo (essay and criticism), Basanta Das (biography and travelogue), Khiroda Parida (translation), Subhendu Mohan Srichandan Singh (children’s literature) and Gaurahari Dalei (lyrics).
The date for the presentation of the awards is yet to be announced.
