For all the courage that Kartik Moharana displayed to thwart the loot bid on Friday, the Commissionerate Police nabbed the culprits who shot at him and attacked a senior citizen, the husband of the woman they were robbing.

Lingaraj Police arrested Narendra Kandi and Shah Jahan Khan, both from Puri district. Both were involved in a series of armed robberies in Khurda and Puri districts.

On Friday, Shah Jahan alias Pappu had come to Nageswar Tangi along with SK Farid. During the robbery bid, Farid was captured by Kartik as well as Jhunu Patnaik, the woman he was trying to rob. Shah Jahan had fired at Kartik and hurt Jhunu’s husband Jitendriya Patnaik.

Following Farid’s information, the police tracked down Shah Jahan in Gop and from there, Narendra was traced in Konark. From them, two guns, three rounds of ammunition and ` 54,000 were seized. The three admitted to have sold to stolen items to Manoj Sahoo of Gop, who is a jeweller by profession. Police recovered gold articles from Manoj.
