The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation was forced to ‘decline’ Government’s funds for construction of night shelters due to unavailability of land.
The H&UD Department recently issued a notice directing the corporation to submit the detailed project report. Earlier, the Department had decided to provide funds to BMC out of its “current year’s Budgetary Provision for night shelter construction”.
But lack of availability of land has halted the corporation in having a head start. Without any available land, no DPR can be prepared.
Out of the four locations identified by the corporation, two have run into controversies.
