Mini marathon kicks off silver jubilee of DAV-CS

A mini marathon kicked off the year long silver jubilee celebration of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur here on Sunday.

President of DAV College Management Committee (DAVCMC) Punam Suri flagged off the mini marathon in which sportspersons, actors, eminent persons and about 5,000 students, their parents and teachers of the school participated.

DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, which entered its 25th year, has lined up activities for one year. The celebrations, which began on Sunday, will continue till August 4, 2014. The mini marathon, which was the major attraction of the first day of celebration, started from Damana Square and converged on the school premises.Former captain of Indian hockey team and Olympian Dilip Tirkey, Indian cricketer and alumnus Pragyan Ojha, Member of Parliament Siddhant Mahapatra and actors Mihir Das and Anubhav Mohanty were present at the flagging off ceremony.

On Saturday, Suri had unveiled the new logo of the school. The logo was designed by Shruti Mishra, a student of Class VIII. Earlier, a logo making competition was organised among the students. The new logo signifies the essence of education through the four Vedas - Rig, Sham, Yajur and Atharva.

DAVCMC Director (Public Schools) II Nisha Peshin, DAV Chandrasekharpur principal KC Satapathy and Chairman MM Panda were also present at the ceremony. A programme was held to honour 25 differently abled students who made a mark in different fields.
