6,000 appear for second Diploma Entrance Test

More than 6,000 candidates appeared for the second Diploma Entrance Test (DET) conducted by the State Government on Tuesday.

A large number of candidates turned up for the examination despite a delayed decision by the State Government to conduct the second DET.

More than 7,500 admit cards were issued  for the second DET. The decision to conduct the second exam was taken following large number of seats remaining vacant in the diploma engineering schools.

But the limited number of examination centres for DET posed a problem for the candidates.

The examinations were conducted only in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Candidates from far off locations such as Sundargarh, Balangir and Berhampur faced problems while appearing for the examinations.

Based on the results of the second DET, a second round of counselling will be conducted for admissions into the vacant seats in diploma engineering colleges.
