The Orissa High Court on Tuesday vacated the interim order staying the notification of the State Government on reservation of posts for chairpersons in urban local bodies (ULBs), paving the way for the State Election Commission (SEC) to start the process of elections which are due before the end of September.

The SEC had appealed to the Court to vacate the stay so that it would start the poll process and complete it before the scheduled date of September 30.

The Court had issued interim order on hearing a petition filed by one Pramod Kumar Pradhan challenging the notification of the Government fixing reservation of 97 municipalities and notified area councils (NACs).
