A couple was crushed to death by the Bhubaneswar-Bangalore Prasanti Express at Haladiapadar railway level crossing on Wednesday.
The deceased are Nanda Kumar Padhy(29)and his wife Mohini (25), residents of Tulu village.
Sources said the couple had left their ailing daughter at their relative’s house in Gosaninuagaon for treatment. On Wednesday morning when they received information about their daughter’s deteriorating health, they rushed to Gosaninuagaon.
At Haladiapadar as the railway crossing was closed, they jumped it in a hurry only to be hit by the train. They were rushed to the MKCG Medical in a critical condition where doctors declared Nanda brought dead.
A few hours later, Mohini succumbed to her injuries. An unnatural death case has been registered.
