Residents of Kalikadevi Sahi in the city on Tuesday blocked the main road and staged a demonstration in front of the SP office here demanding arrest of killers of one Nisikanta Mishra (26).
They alleged that in-laws of Mishra killed him by setting him on fire when he had gone to their house to bring his wife back.
Mishra was married to a girl in Baliapanda two years back and the couple had a six-month-old son. A few days back, she had been to her father’s house and on August 5, Mishra went to Baliapanda to bring her. However, he was found in his in-law’s house with severe burn injuries by the neighbours and rushed to the district headquarters hospital.
Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed on Tuesday.
Mishra’s parents later lodged an FIR in Puri police station alleging that he was killed by his in-laws and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
On the other hand, father-in-law of the deceased filed another case at Baliapanda police station stating that Mishra committed suicide after a quarrel with his wife. Traffic on the route was affected.
