New session of AIIMS begins

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar on Monday welcomed its second batch MBBS students even as it is striving hard to launch its hospital services by September.

Around 81 students of 95, who had opted for AIIMS Bhubaneswar, reported at the institution as orientation of the new batch commenced on Monday. While MBBS seats have been raised from 50 to 100 this year, remaining seats would be filled up through a second counselling to be held on August 18. Orientation of new batch would be held till August 16 and regular classes would commence from August 19, spokesperson Dillip Parida said.

Meanwhile, AIIMS OPDs have been shifted to the main hospital building from temporary structures, they had been functioning till Monday.The authorities have now focused towards getting the hospital services on rails by September before second year of first batch students gets going.
