4 women held for abduction attempt

Four women were arrested by police after they allegedly attempted to abduct an Ayurvedic pharmacist from his clinic near Ravi Talkies Square here on Monday.

Four women were arrested by police after they allegedly attempted to abduct an Ayurvedic pharmacist from his clinic near Ravi Talkies Square here on Monday.

Locals saw the women trying to bundle the pharmacist, Kapil Deb Mazumdar, into a car and intervened. When the women said they had been misbehaved by him, the locals informed the police. All of them were taken to Old Town Police Station in the PCR van. Even inside the police station, the four roughed up Mazumdar prompting the cops to arrest them. They were identified as Sipra Hira, Madhu Jali, Usha Nayak and B Laxmi Priya.

Old Town Inspector Rajendra Mandal said two of the women had gone to Mazumdar’s clinic located on second floor of Sidharth Tower. They sought treatment for a patient who, the duo said, was waiting downstairs in a car. When Mazumdar went to car, women tried to push him inside. The locals got suspicious and stepped in.The driver has also been arrested.
