BSNL mobile service in limbo for hours

The mobile network of state-owned BSNL hit a major snag in the City on Wednesday. Subscribers in large pockets of the Capital found their network crashing as technical staff went after fault-fixing.

The snag was reported at about 9 pm when BSNL subscribers reported network failure. While some thought it was a technical problem of individual handsets, others presumed it to be a temporary failure. However, as the network remained in limbo for several hours, the system crash came to light.A senior officer of BSNL said Unit III, Satya Nagar, Unit IX, Sahid Nagar, Rasulgarh and adjoining pockets reported the crash while the rest of the City did not have any problem.

“It is a transmission failure and our technical staff are working on it,” said the officer, even as the problem continued well past midnight.
