The lawyers’ agitation over Orissa High Court bench demand is taking shape of a mass movement with more and more organisations pledging support to it.
Some of these organisations are Hussaini Laskar, Islamic Development Organisation, Muslim Association, Bangiya Samaj, Bhojpuri Samaj, Gujarati Samaj, Kulta Samaj, Chasa Samaj, Marwari Mahila Samaj, Nari Seva Sangha and Anganwadi Karmi Sangha.
Apart from them, Sambalpur branch of Indian Medical Association, Tax Bar Association, Chartered Accountant Association, Drug and Chemist Association, Odisha Sales Representative Union, BSNL Employees Union have joined the agitation with representatives of the organisations joining the ongoing relay hunger strike by lawyers.
The agitation has also received the support of Private Bus Owners Association, Samaleswari Auto Rickshaw Association and Sambalpur Tent House Association. Recently, college students had taken out rallies around the town pledging their support to the lawyers.
