Lawyers body now plans big blockade

All eyes are now on the meeting of the Central Action Committee (CAC) of the All-Western Odisha Bar Associations (AWOBA) before August 30 following failure of talks between the CAC and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court.

The agitating lawyers are buoyed by widespread support they have received from all sections of the society.

Discussions have begun on various options,   including continued closure of the revenue collecting offices of the State Government beyond the monsoon session of the Assembly and resorting to economic blockade on National Highways passing through the towns of the region. Convenor of CAC Ashok Das said that their future course of action will be decided at the next meeting.

On other hand, the Sambalpur District Bar Association (SDBA) adopted a resolution in its general body meeting to continue with their agitation.
