Tension over UTP’s death

Tension prevailed at Sukarpada under Nischintakoili police limits following death of an under-trial prisoner (UTP) at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Saturday night. The deceased SK Allimuddin was a daily wage labourer of Sukarpada village.

According to sources, Mahala Hata outpost in-charge officer Godabarish Das had come to Sukarpada along with three constables to nab two persons allegedly involved in illegal cattle trade on August 19. Without informing Nischintakoili police, while the outpost police started searching for the accused, more than 50 locals attacked them. They also damaged police vehicle.

Acting on FIR filed by Sub-Inspector Godabarish Das, Nischintakoili police arrested four persons including Allimuddin. On August 21, Allimuddin was remanded to Salepur sub-jail after his bail petition was rejected by JMFC, Salepur.
