Police arrested the head of City-based St Xaviers’ school Paresh Mohapatra for alleged murder of a teacher of his school over an illicit relationship. The teacher, Alakananda Mishra, has been missing since July 29.

According to police, Alakananda had separated from her husband and was staying with her father in Bhubaneswar. She had also taken up a job as teacher in St Xavier school in the Capital city in 2010.

However, she quit the job after a year and reportedly got associated with the Xaviers’ school at Cantonment Road here for conducting orientation programmes. She allegedly developed a relationship with Paresh. Both had reportedly started staying together at CDA under Markatnagar police limits for last one year.

However, differences had cropped up between the two, ACP Trinath Mishra said. With Alakananda suddenly going untraceable since July 29, her brother filed a complaint at Markat Nagar police station alleging murder. Mohapatra was accused of killing Alakananda and cremating her body.“Investigations revealed prima facie evidence against Mohapatra and he has been arrested,” Mishra said.
