Former 'Express' scribe VK Dixit passed away

Veteran journalist and former ‘Indian Express’ correspondent Vijay Kumar Dixit passed away at Jamshedpur on Wednesday morning. He was 79.

Veteran journalist and former ‘Indian Express’ correspondent Vijay Kumar Dixit passed away at Jamshedpur on Wednesday morning. He was 79.

 Dixit was ailing for some time and admitted to Tata Main Hospital where the end came during the wee hours. An alumnus of Benaras Hindu University, Dixit began his journalistic career with “Searchlight” in Patna in 1958 before moving on to “National Herald” in Lucknow. He served there for two years when the legendary Chalapathi Rau was at the helm of affairs.

In 1961, Dixit joined the “Indian Express” and was posted at Patna before being transferred to Bhubaneswar in 1963.

He continued till 1984. He also worked with the corporate sector after retirement.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters. The last rites would be conducted at his ancestral village in Chhapra.
