88 in fray for Rayagada municipal elections

Ten candidates withdrew their nominations from the urban local body (ULB) polls for Rayagada Municipality on Thursday.

The Municipality with 24 wards has 45,977 voters. As many as 98 candidates had filed their nominations. Similarly, for 17 wards under Gunupur NAC, 74 candidates filed their papers. On Thursday, eight of them withdrew their papers. In Gudari NAC, having 11 wards, one candidate pulled out of the election process.

PURI: Around 108 are in fray for election to the 32-member Puri Municipality. A total of 132 candidates had filed their nominations of which, three were rejected during scrunity. Besides, 21 candidates withdrew their nominations.

PARLAKHEMUNDI: After withdraw of nominations, 51 candidates are in the fray for 16 wards of Parlakhemundi Municipality.

While Congress had fielded one candidate, BJD candidates are fighting for all the wards.
