BMC to spend Rs 13 crore on concrete roads

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed to spend Rs 13 crore for laying concrete roads in the ensuing fiscal, focusing mostly on the internal roads across the wards.

BMC has lately focused on repair and construction of the road network under it. It has around 1,400 km of internal and a few major roads under it. Most of the roads in the city are either being constructed or repaired.

Constructions are underway to cover drains adjacent to the roads. A concrete slope is constructed as an extension of the road , causing minimum damage to the drains and facilitates proper drainage.

This year, Rs 80 lakh has been sanctioned specifically for construction, repair and renovation of the internal roads. The corporators have to submit their proposals as per the requirement of the ward. Some proposals have been received. These will be reviewed by the engineering section of BMC before being executed.

In the last fiscal,  Rs 48 crore was sanctioned for roads and drains in the city.
