Justice Naidu visits Jalespeta ashram

Justice AS Naidu, heading the inquiry commission of 2008 Kandhamal riots, on Wednesday went round the Jalespeta ashram under Tumudibandha police limits where Lakshmanananda Saraswati and his four disciples were assassinated on August 23, 2008. He interacted with the inmates of the ashram and later in the evening, held a meeting with the district officials at Baliguda.

This is Justice Naidu’s first visit to the district after he succeeded late Justice Sarat Chandra Mohapatra, who died in the midway of the inquiry.

On Thursday and Friday, Justice Naidu will hear the witnesses who had earlier filed affidavits in connection with the riots, but were not able to go to Bhubaneswar to depose.

He will also visit the local bar association office and interact with the local lawyers. Before leaving Kandhamal on Saturday, the Commission will discuss the case with the Collector and SP.
