Author Satakadi Hota on Wednesday took over as new president of Odisha Sahitya Akademi. He will hold office for a period of three years.

The move comes after writer Rama Chandra Behera resigned as the head of Akademi on Monday stating that Government had started looking for next president of the Akademi much before completion of his term.

Culture Director Sushil Kumar Das said Behera was appointed in 2010 for two years and later his term was extended till Government found the new president.

“Selection of Hota was a regular procedure and the Government has not taken any hasty decision in appointing a new person to the post,” said Das.
