Hundreds of people led by BJD leader Kalandi  Samal blocked the coal transportation on the road from feeding Bharatpur coalmine to the Nalco power plant here for the consecutive third day on Friday.

They were protesting against the use of public roads for the coal transportation.

“Coal transportation has been causing heavy pollution in the area and affecting public life drastically. Use of road for the purpose should be immediately stopped,” said Samal.

Transportation of coal to Nalco was hit due to the strike.

Nalco draws about 3,000 to 4,000 tonne of coal everyday  by road and rail networks.
