The National Institute of Technology-Rourkela (NIT-R) is witnessing a mammoth gathering of technical students from across the country and abroad who are participating in the three-day International Students’ Meet (ISM).

Held under the aegis of the Student Activity Centre of the NIT-R, the meet got off to a splendid start on Friday evening at the sprawling NIT-R campus. As many as 50 technical and non-technical events are underway.

Organisers informed above 700 technical students from across the country and some from other countries like US, Germany, Singapore and Nepal have joined around 4500 students of the host institute for the event.

On the inaugural day, the event saw an impressive laser show besides a workshop on the laser show.

SAC president DRK Padhi said the ISM enables students to mingle with each other to experience divergent civilisations and lifestyles and also give them a global outlook.

The second evening witnessed a performance by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, while star attraction of the valedictory day on Sunday would be popular playback singer KK.
