Around 200 residents of Khaliapali in Balangir district including women gheraoed the SP office here on Friday demanding action against one Dinesh Dash, who along with 30 other men, had allegedly created a ruckus in the village. They said Dash misbehaved with some women by calling them by their caste. He also barged into the shops and threatened people to kill them.

Earlier, the villagers had met the Collector demanding action against Dash who had unleashed a reign of terror in the village.

IIC of Balangir town police station Srimanta Barik said a previous dispute over a piece of land between the villagers and Dash had led the latter to mibehave with the former.

“Police are looking into the complaint. We will take necessary action after investigation,” he said.
