The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital will undertake liver transplantation within a year. This was announced at the launch of the Centre of Excellence for Gastrointestinal, Liver and Pancreatobiliary Sciences by the institute here on Saturday. The centre was inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Damodar Rout.It will offer comprehensive treatment and care under one roof for gastrointestinal, biliary, pancreatic and liver diseases unmatched in eastern India. Head of the centre Manoj Kumar Sahu, Dean of the hospital Prof DK Ray, Professor and Head of Gastroenterology at JIPMER, Puducherry Prof Subas Chandra Samal who is tipped to head new Centre of Excellence, Prof Shivram Prasad Singh, Head of Department of Gastroenterology at SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack and Vice - Chancellor of SOA University Prof RP Mohanty spoke.
