Tornado injures 12 in Kendrapara

Twelve persons were injured and several houses damaged in a tornado that hit Aul and Rajkanika areas on Sunday. Many trees were uprooted leading to road blockade in many villages.

Twelve persons were injured and several houses damaged in a tornado that hit Aul and Rajkanika areas on Sunday. Many trees were uprooted leading to road blockade in many villages.

Six persons including two children were injured by flying roof tiles and metal sheets in Balarampur village. Rajkanika Tehsildar Nilanchal Sahoo said a boat carrying 40 persons including 10 women and eight children capsized in river Kharasrota, but all of them could be saved due to timely intervention of villagers. Two medical teams have been sent to the affected villages. Olaver, Balarampur, Kantapada, Jaguleipada, Koilipur, Lahuni, Siko and Baghaboda gram panchayats are worst hit. Collector Durga Charan Behera said free food will be provided to  villagers till normalcy is restored. Polythene sheets will be given to villagers whose houses have been damaged .
