Two students drowned in separate incidents on the City outkskirts on Wednesday. An engineering student met watery grave at the Deras dam while a Plus Two student was swept away in river Bhargavi.
Snehashis Mangaraj, a Plus Two second year student of BJB College, had gone for swimming in river Bhargavi along with a friend. He was caught in a deep pocket and swept. He is feared drowned but his body has not been retrieved.
In the second incident, an engineering student drowned in Deras dam while taking bath. Satya Ranjan Nayak, student of a private engineering college, was returning with a friend after attending a function at a separate college.
The friends decided to take bath in the dam but were unaware that the sluice gate was open. The sudden force of the water swept away Nayak.
