Court rejects Rajashree’s bail petition

District and Sessions court of Balasore has rejected the bail petition of former minister Raghunath Mohanty’s son Rajashree on Thursday.

Arrested on the charges of torturing his wife Barsa Swony Choudhury (23) for dowry, Rajashree (28) is lodged in jail custody since Monday. His lawyer said they would move High Court for his bail.

The rejection came a day after High Court rejected the writ petition filed by the former minister seeking to squash the FIR lodged against him and his family members in this connection.

Barsa’s lawyer Amar Ballav Nanda opposed the bail petition and appraised the court that four other accused persons were to be apprehended and there was every possibility of destroying the evidences and influencing the investigating agency if the prime accused was granted bail. Barsa and her family have welcomed the verdict.
