Police have arrested an anti-social, Tapan Behera, who fired in the air to terrorise locals of Bhoi Sahi of Tamando on Friday morning following a tiff.

Police have arrested an anti-social, Tapan Behera, who fired in the air to terrorise locals of Bhoi Sahi of Tamando on Friday morning following a tiff.

Behera, who owns a shop of construction materials in the area, was having a chat with two of his friends when two residents of Bhoi Sahi were passing by. Behera and his friends allegedly passed some uncharitable remarks on the two - Deepak Bhoi and Maku Bhoi.

When Deepak and Maku were having an altercation with Behera, locals of Bhoi Sahi got wind of the matter and came to with fellow residents.Seeing the situation getting out of control, Behera fired in the air and the trio fled the place. After a complaint was lodged, Tamando Police arrested Behera. Hunt is on for his associates.

Elderly woman robbed

Two bike-borne miscreants robbed an elderly woman from a lane behind Ram Mandir at gun point on Wednesday afternoon. Indumati Rao, the complainant, was walking home with her daughter-in-law Padmaja Rao when the miscreants struck. They intercepted the duo and snatched Indumati’s gold necklace weighing about 70 gram at gun-point. During the process, a portion of the jewellery got stuck on Indumati’s neck while the robbers managed to grab the rest.

Though the incident occurred around noon when the shops and offices dotting the lane were open, not many came to the help as the youths terrorised the locals with the gun before fleeing on their red coloured Pulsar bike. No one has been arrested yet. A case has been lodged at Kharavela Nagar police station.
