The prestigious KISS Humanitarian Award 2013 was presented to global philanthropist and social entrepreneur Albina Du Boisrouvray here on Wednesday.

The award was given in recognition of Boisrouvray’s work for vulnerable children, health, human rights and poverty eradication.

She is founder of Association François-Xavier Bagnoud which works all over the world. A former journalist and film producer, her organisation leads over 100 programmes in Africa, America, Asia and Europe.

Baroness of Neuberger Rabbi Julia Neuberger, also the Founding Trustee of UK-based Walter and Liesel Schwab Charitable Trust, presented the award to Boisrouvray at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).

“I am humbled to see the work done in KISS. It is remarkable,” Boisrouvray said in her acceptance speech. She added that investing in children is investing in world peace.

Founder of KIIT and KISS Achyuta Samanta said KISS was honoured to have felicitated Boisrouvray who has distinguished herself by helping millions of children in distress across the world. KISS shares her concern, he added.

Founder and Director of Ripa International Centre for Buddhist Study and Practice, Switzerland, Executive Director of Netherlands-based Bernard van Leer Foundation Lisa Jordan, president of KIIT and KISS Saswati Bal were also present.

The KISS Humanitarian Award was instituted by KISS in 2008 to honour and recognise individuals with exceptionally high contribution to the society in various fields relating to social issues and who have distinguished themselves as true humanitarians. Boisrouvray is the sixth KISS Humanitarian Award recipient.
