SONEPUR: Sadanand Barik (40) of Kumarkeli village under Birmaharajpur police limits died and his wife Damayanti Barik (36) sustained severe injuries when four persons attacked them with sharp weapons over land dispute on Monday.
Damayanti has been admitted to Birmaharajpur Sub-division Hospital and her condition is said to be critical.
Reports said Sadanand was working on his farm land when Damayanti brought food for him. Meanwhile, Ramesh Chandra, his wife and son of the same village came to the spot and started abusing Sadanand.
When Sadanand retaliated, family of Ramesh attacked him within sharp weapons. They also attacked Damayanti when she tried to resist them.
Sadanand died on the spot after bleeding profusingly and the accused managed to flee.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on to nab the accused.
