Dacoity Bid Foiled

BHUBANESWAR: Four persons were arrested by Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday while they were planning to conduct dacoity in running trains.

They have been identified as Satyaban Pradhan (20) and Sarat Das (19) of Ganjam, Pramod Das (20) of Nirakarpur and Mahesh Chandra Sahu (29) of Banpur. They have been forwarded to court on Tuesday. GRP Bhubaneswar raided an area near Buddha Nagar slum here on Monday and arrested the four accused while six others managed to flee.

Man Ends Life

One Dusashan Mahapatra allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Kargil Basti under Airfield police limits, late on Monday. He worked as a daily wage labourer at a construction firm. Police said, Mahapatra returned home in an inebriated condition and had an altercation with his wife following which he took the extreme step.

Liquor Seized

Commissionerate Police on Tuesday seized 500 bottles of  country liquor from an auto-rickshaw near Bomikhal under Laxmi Sagar police limits on Tuesday.

Two persons, Prasanta Sethi (25) and Mukesh Behera (20), both residents of Kharavel Nagar here have been arrested and will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
