Plantation Target for Monsoon

BHUBANESWAR: Kalahandi North and South, Khariar, Balangir and Subarnapur forest divisions under Bhawanipatna forest circle have targeted to plant over 80 lakh saplings of different species during the monsoon. Of these, 60 lakh saplings will be distributed to public and institutions under agro-forestry and tree cover outside forest schemes.

Besides, 18.46 lakh saplings will be planted in 3,230 hectare (ha) of block plantation, 10,455 ha of gape plantation and 580 kms of avenue plantation. Similarly, under urban plantation programme, 2.14 lakh saplings will be taken up by the divisions.

All these plantations will be taken up under State’s plan and non-plan expenditure and MGNREGS. Regional Chief Conservator of Forest M Satyanarayana said the divisions are ready to take up the job. After a good rainfall, the departmental plantation and distribution of saplings will be undertaken, he added.
