BHUBANESWAR: The State Government is contemplating to formulate a policy on solar energy to give a boost to power generation from non-conventional sources of energy. Replying to a question from Amar Prasad Satpathy (BJD) in the Assembly on Thursday, Minister of State for Science and Technology Pradip Kumar Panigrahi said the State Government has formulated a draft solar policy and hosted it on the Government website soliciting public opinion to give a thrust to the development of solar energy in the State.

The Minister said opinions received from different quarters are being examined for necessary incorporation wherever possible. The draft will be finalised and placed before the Cabinet for approval after the exercise is over, he said.
