DHENKANAL : As many as 10 houses in Lethaka panchayat under Gondia block were washed away due to heavy rain on Sunday. The worst affected villages are Tolakalundi, Ria and Nilamberpur.  Gondia Tehsildar SS Sahoo informed Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo who directed that arrangements be made to rescue the affected. People have been advised to shift to school buildings and anganwadi centres.

The road near a minor irrigation project has been washed away following which transportation to Joranda has been disrupted.

Railway sources said Balangir-Bhubaneswar Inter-City and Rourkela-Puri Express have been terminated near Hindol and Meramandali respectively due to a technical snag.

The Collector has asked all revenue and block officials to remain vigilant.
