Treasury Officers Told to Accept GPF e-papers

BHUBANESWAR:  The Finance Department has directed treasury officers to accept e-statements of general provident fund (GPF) from Government employees to help them draw money without difficulty.

The department’s direction came after complaints were filed about treasury officers not accepting e-statements forcing employees to run from pillar to post to get their GPF statement.

A release issued by the department stated that since the employees are downloading annual statements from website and the statements are signed by empowered authorities, there is no problem in accepting those.

The department maintained that henceforth, the Accountant General (AG) would not release any account slip of GPF. Employees would have to download the e-statement from the website of the AG, the release stated.

The release further stated that employees can now find out the balance in their GPF account from http://agodisha.gov.in. The online system also provides the facility for registration of mobile numbers through which the employees can get their monthly updates via SMS as soon as their subscription or withdrawal is posted by the AG office. Any misplacement of GPF can be tracked instantly through this SMS system.
