Draft Plan for CSpur to be Made Public

BHUBANESWAR: The draft zonal development plan (ZDP) for Chandrasekharpur will be notified by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) soon. This

was decided at a recent meeting of the development authority.

The ZDP, prepared by the IIT-Kharagpur, was a part of the BDA's Vision-2030 document which deals with effective planning of the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The Capital City has been divided into 14 zones that are further divided into sub-zones.

Chandrasekharpur zone alone is expected to have a population of about seven lakh by 2030.

The ZDP was drafted taking into account factors like population, roads, sewerage pipelines and plotting of existing area in a planned manner. The zone comprises important locations like Jaydev Vihar, CRP Square, Infocity area and extends till Nandankanan.

The draft ZDP will be available on various fora for public viewing for a duration of three months from the date of its publication.  During this period, BDA will accept objections from the residents of the area if they want any changes in the plan.

These objections will be reviewed at the end of three months. The same procedure will be implemented for the rest 14 zones.

After the notification of the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) a few years back, BDA received many complaints from public about deviation from the original proposed plan. A senior BDA official said in order to avoid confusion this time, two special committees have been formed which will verify the map.

One committee, headed by BDA chief engineer will comprise senior officials of Water Resource Department and Works Department.

They will look into the feasibility of drainage and road networks proposed under the ZDP. Another committee will be headed by BDA's planning member and will look into the land use aspects incorporated by IIT in the ZDP.

The ZDPs will ensure micro-planning of the city whereas the CDP will look after the macro-planning.
