BARGARH: Bodies of three persons were retrieved from a car in Uttali nullah near Talpadar village on Wednesday.

The three were travelling in a car on the bridge over the nullah on Bijepur-Talpadar road on Monday night when the vehicle was swept away by flood water.

The deceased are driver of the vehicle Anadi Kanhar (46),  Malaya Mahamullick (35) and Basanti Behera (35). While Anadi belongs to Krushakpalli village in Barpali block, Malaya and Basanti hail from Kusurda in Sohela block.

As the water from the nullah receded on Wednesday, villagers saw the car in the midst of the nullah, 600 metres away from the bridge and informed Bijepur police. Sources said another person, Subarna Poad (40) of Kusurda village who was travelling with the three, is still untraceable.

The incident took place when they were returning to Kusurda village from Bijepur.

Unaware that the bridge over the nullah, a tributary of river Jeera, had been washed away by the swirling flood water, the driver sped the vehicle through it resulting in the car getting swallowed in the flood water.
