Maoists’ Defunct Explosive Unit Busted

Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum SP Narendra Singh confirmed the detection of defunct arms and explosive manufacturing unit.

ROURKELA: A defunct arms and explosive manufacturing unit was busted in Jharkhand in a joint exercise of Jareikela police and CRPF personnel on Thursday. The raid was conducted after searching a hidden area of the erstwhile Maoist citadel in Saranda forest near Cheraradera village in West Singhbhum district, close to Odisha border. Police seized abandoned equipments used for manufacturing guns and explosives.

Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum SP Narendra Singh confirmed the detection and said further details were awaited.

Sources said more than two years ago, Saranda forest along Odisha-Jharkhand border used to be dominated by the Eastern Regional Bureau of the banned CPI (Maoist).
