Facelift for IT Corridor in Pipeline
BHUBANESWAR: The IT corridor of the Capital is set to get a facelift with authorities proposing to beautify the area and enhance civic amenities.
A host of new projects has been proposed for beautification of the stretch of Infocity Square, Infocity Gate and Sikharchandi. Beautification on both sides of the road on the stretch has been mooted which will include wall paintings and plantation in the medians. The stretch of road between Fortune Tower and Tech Mahindra is also expected to be beautified.
A rotary will also be developed in the specified stretch and in front of Infocity Gates for effective management of traffic. A storm water drainage channel has been proposed to come up between West End Apartment and the Jagannath Temple in the area.
Representatives of Confederation of the Information Technology Enterprises (CITE) met senior Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) officials recently to discuss development prospects in and around the IT corridor. This was followed by a meeting with Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), where different responsibilities under the project were delegated to different departments. The work on the stretch of road between Infocity and Sailashree Vihar, which was completed halfway by IDCO, was handed over to Roads and Building department.
BDA has proposed to construct a ‘Joggers Park’ in the locality as per proposal. In addition, a primary transfer station for dumping of garbage was also proposed. Officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have been asked to conduct a site visit to identify land for primary transfer station. From there, the solid waste will be transferred directly to Bhuasuni. Officials of BDA, BMC and General Administration (GA) department will evaluate the entire area for putting up a traffic signal in the stretch. A dedicated city bus service has also been proposed for the area for which civic authorities will formulate a formal proposal in collaboration with Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Service Limited (BPTSL).
